March 29 Palm Sunday

Mass at 5:30 pm at Old Town

Rehearsal in the kitchen at 5:00 for those singing propers only. We will not sing anything other than the ordinaries of the mass as a choir this week due to the sheer volume of propers. The entire liturgy is close to 2.5 hours long--just so you are aware and prepared.

The shape of this liturgy is very different. Prior to the Mass, blessing of the palms, distribution of the palms, and a procession occur. CP and MM will cantor this section of the liturgy. The men will sing the entirety of the Mass.

Ordinaries: Mass XVII, Creed I see links at the top of the page.

I have confirmed the usual Palm Sunday format with Father. We will stick with the division we have had for several years. CP and MM will cantor the Blessing of Palms and Procession. Men will sing the full Propers of the Mass. If you usually sing Propers begin looking at the Tract now. Men will either sing the entirety in unison or can divide verses as able. There have been questions regarding liturgies for Holy Week. Unfortunately, we will not be having liturgies for the Triduum this year. We will have Palm Sunday (March 29) and I will get clarification on if it will be the pre-55 celebration or the simpler 1962 celebration. Father Gray is working on making sure we do have an Easter Sunday Mass. More on the timing of that when available. Thank you all for ensuring this Mass is so lovely and for supporting Father Gray in continuing to make it available.
